Given the success of last year’s Art in a Blender – the intervention we created for 100-in-1 Day at Central Neighbourhood House – we decided to run a similar event this year: Re-Vital Art Explosion! Running from 3:00-5:00 on Saturday, June 6th, the event took over CNH’s front courtyard once again with a maelstrom of chalk doodles and paint.
Participation mainly stemmed from members of the Boyz 2 Men youth group, and we invited these young gentlemen to express what community revitalization meant to them. The result was a broadly ranging series of brightly coloured canvases reflecting forms of positive action within the neighbourhoods of Moss Park, Regent Park, and St. James Town within which CNH is embedded.
And then we ate barbecue.
Many thanks to Pamela Gawn, Edwin Huang, and on-site co-facilitator Raymond Koyo for helping to make this year’s contribution to 100-in-1 Day a well attended and enthusiastic artistic response to this day of civil action!
