CAMH Mural Project

The space we’re going to transform on the Ward.

Today I’m off once again to CAMH’s Forensic Unit, where over the next few months I’ll be running a mural project with clients.  Beginning with a community consultation, I established that residents found that an image providing a sense of security and relaxation would make an ideal addition to the space.  As in the Welcome Home project conducted in the St. James Town community this August, the vote was nearly unanimous that Nature, as a theme, served as a perfect backdrop to this end.  Rather than a calming plain, however, ours will be a rather more busy and striking jungle environment.  The first thought that popped into my head once I heard this was “Rousseau!” and so, the model I’m using to create the first lines is borrowed partially from the French painter.

More to follow as the design evolves…
