As many of you in Artland and beyond know, this Saturday October the 4th is Nuit Blanche – that late night of creative mayhem that befalls Toronto every year. And this year, I’m doing something for it! I will be one of the featured muralists working on the Incandescent Community Mural – an interactive installation involving both artists and looky-loos in the co-creation of a 7 ft, glowing, free standing structure! With high-gloss paints. It sounds really cool.
The community painting begins at 7 pm and runs to 1 am outside of 180 Shaw Street – AKA Artscape Youngplace, just a little north of Queen in the Arts District. Installation of the great beast will take over at 1, running from then to 7 am. I can’t wait to see what I’ve got myself into!
The event is being hosted by Toronto’s very own Neighbourhood Arts Network. I’m excited to be working with them, and hope to see lots of you out there!
